Parents and carers should teach children good traffic safety habits early. They often can’t see past parked cars and they don’t have the experience to judge the speed and distance of an oncoming car. Young children do not have the skills to stay safe in traffic. Road safety education can help save children’s lives by enabling them to develop the skills and concepts needed to keep themselves safe. Road accidents are the biggest single cause of death for all children between the ages of 1 and 15 years. Road accidents account for 25% of all deaths of school children.
